Record Gift Establishes Nicholas J. Giuffre Center for Supply Chain Management

The largest gift in the history of the Bloomsburg University Foundation is benefiting BU’s supply chain management program.

Nicholas J. Giuffre ’78 recently contributed a $2.5 million blended gift to the BU Foundation and the university’s It’s Personal campaign. The gift establishes the Nicholas J. Giuffre Center for Supply Chain Management within the College of Business. Nick’s gift will also endow the Nicholas J. Giuffre Distinguished Professor in Supply Chain Management to support the university’s supply chain management major and experiential learning opportunities for students. It is the first endowed professorship in the College of Business.

“The support of our alumni is vital to our mission and to the impact we have on our students,” said BU President David Soltz. “We can’t thank Nick enough for this generous gift, which will be transformational to the College of Business and our university. It will give our students a distinct advantage by further developing our supply chain management program.”

Establishment of BU’s supply chain management major inspired Giuffre to make the donation. “I knew I wanted to make a major commitment to the university, and when I learned about the four year degree in supply chain management, a light bulb went on,” said Giuffre, president and CEO of Bradford White Corporation, a major U.S. manufacturer of residential and commercial water heating and storage products. “This is what I do, every day. This is how I became successful, and I know that this will help prepare many future students for successful careers.”

Located on the third floor of BU’s Sutliff Hall, the Nicholas J. Giuffre Center for Supply Chain Management will provide students with access to innovative software programs and technology, meeting space to interact with supply chain professionals from local businesses and a variety of resources that will support the supply chain management curriculum.

“Nick’s gift and his passion for our unique program are inspiring,” said Jeffrey Krug, Dean of Bloomsburg University’s College of Business. “The Giuffre Center for Supply Chain Management will be a platform for experiential learning that teaches students how technology is integrated throughout the value chain to create effective, integrated business organizations.”

Giuffre, who has worked for Bradford White since he graduated from BU in 1978, serves as a member of the Bloomsburg University Foundation Board of Directors, the College of Business Advisory Board and the It’s Personal Campaign Cabinet.
